Annelien Van Wauwe, clarinet

The Belgian clarinettist Annelien van Wauwe was born in 1987 and has been studying in the class of Sabine Mayer at the Musikhochschule Lübeck since 2005. In 2009 she began studying at the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris. In January 2010 she became academist of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome and studied with Alessandro Carbonare. Annelien van Wauwe has been a scholarship holder of the Young Talented Musicians Foundation, the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, the Ad Infinitum Foundation and since 2007 the Kammermusikstiftung Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz. In 2003 she won the Belgian Vlamo competition, in 2004 the Concorso Internazionale Marco Fiorindo in Turin and in 2005 the Axion Classics Dexia competition in Brussels. At the Internationaler Musikwettbewerb für die Jugend in Oldenburg she won the first prize and the NDR Culture Prize. Annelien van Wauwe has been a clarinettist in the Junge Belgische Philhamonie, the Jeugd en Musiekorkest Antwerp, the Niederländisches Jugendorchester and in October 2009 she played in the Orchestre de Paris under Christoph Eschenbach. A few months later she became the principal clarinet of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and took part in a tour with Herbert Blomstedt.
