Lavinia Dames, soprano
The soprano Lavinia Dames was born in 1990 and had her first singing lessons at the age of eleven.
In 2006 she continued her studies with Prof. Gerhard Faulstich at the Musikhochschule Hannover. From 2007 until 2010 she had an exhibition for young talent at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. In 2010 she began her studies with Prof. Gabriele Lechner and Prof. Peter Edelmann at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna which she completed with a high commendation.
Lavinia Dames won prizes at the Cantilena Gesangswettbewerb in Bayreuth in 2009 and the International Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition in 2012. In 2011 she won the scholarship of the Internationale Kärntner Sparkassen in the categories operetta and Spieloper. In addition she won the audience prize. As a scholarship holder of the Junge Musiker Stiftung Bayreuth she was able to take part in 2011 in the master class Sabbioneta with Prof. Edda Moser and Prof. Renato Bruson. She has also taken master classes with Catarina Ligendza, Rudolf Piernay, Wolfgang Brendel, Hans Sotin and Gabriele Lechner.
Lavinia Dames has already performed in several roles on stage: she took the roles of flower girl and Knappe in Parsival at the Wagnerfestspiele in Wels and as the duchess Ceprano and Giovanna in Verdi's Rigoletto at the Landestheater Vorarlberg. In 2012 and 2013 she took the role of Susanna in the Marriage of Figaro at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn with great success. She has also performed as Euridice in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, the Jungfrau in Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri at the Vienna Konzerthaus and Lauretta in Gianni Schicci at the Komische Oper in Berlin. From summer 2014 onwards Lavinia has a permanent position at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf where she sings the roles of Susanna in the Marriage of Figaro, Stasi in the Kalman operetta Csardasfürstin and Gretel.
