Florian Noack, piano

Florian Noack was born in 1990 into a family of musicians and began to play the piano at the age of four. He was taught by Michel Wiggers and at the age of twelve was accepted by the programme for outstanding young talent at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth. He studied there for two years and at the same time he participated in master classes given by Abdel Rachman El Bacha, Dmitri Bashkirov and Brigitte Engerer.

When he was fifteen Florian Noack won many first prizes at eight competitions in Belgium including the Concours Belfius Classics, Rotary Brueghel and Concours Excellentia. During this period he studied intensively with the Belgian pianist Johan Schmidt.

At the age of sixteen he was accepted for the class of the Russian composer and pianist Vassily Lobanov at the Musikhochschule Cologne. In the same year he won numerous prizes at competitions in France including the Concours Piano Campus and Concours Vibrarte in Paris. Florian Noack has won several prizes e.g. at the Fondation Belge de la Vocation, the second prize and audience prize at the International Rachmaninov Piano Competition (2010), the second prize at the International Schumann Competition in Zwickau (2010) and in 2013 the first prize at the Karlrobert-Kreiten Piano Competition and at the Lions Club Competition and a prize at the Steinway Piano Competition.

His transcriptions of works by Tschaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Rimsky-Korsakov have received great acclaim, particularly from Dmitri Bashkirov, Cyprien Katsaris and Boris Berezovsky. He has been invited to several festivals in Italy, France, Germany, Korea, China and the USA and has performed with various orchestras including the WDR Rundfunkorchester, the Philharmonie Südwestwalen and the Orchestre Symphonique d'Aquitaine.
